A global celebration of cinema's most visionary voices — where every frame tells a story.
The Frame International Film Festival was founded in 2024 with a singular belief: that great cinema doesn't need permission from major studios or established gatekeepers. It just needs a stage.
We started as a small monthly showcase built for independent filmmakers who were making bold, personal, uncompromising work — and finding it hard to be seen. What began as a niche gathering quickly became a global movement, welcoming hundreds of films from over fifty countries in our first year alone.
Today, The Frame is a monthly-recognized festival that champions storytellers from every corner of the world — from student directors submitting their first short to seasoned auteurs premiering their latest feature.
Behind every film we celebrate is a person who dared to make something. Our mission is to remove the friction between that person and their audience — no gatekeepers, no politics, no pretense.
We believe cinema is at its most powerful when it comes from someone with a real story to tell, told in a way only they could tell it. Whether that's a hand-animated short from a Delhi student, a documentary from a small Kentucky town, or an experimental piece shot on someone's iPhone — it deserves a platform.
Every submission is treated with the same care. Every filmmaker gets a fair review. Every voice matters.
Three principles that guide every decision we make — from selection to celebration.
We celebrate technical excellence, artistic vision, and storytelling that lingers long after the credits. Craft isn't just polish — it's intention behind every frame.
A great film doesn't need a famous name attached. We keep submission fees fair, our review process transparent, and our celebration open to filmmakers from every background.
Winners walk away with more than a laurel — they get cash prizes, real recognition, and a permanent place in our archive. Because bold work deserves real support.
Behind the scenes, a film festival is more than an event — it's a labor of love. A place where dreams come alive, where stories find their audience, and where every moment is infused with the power of cinema.
A small team of filmmakers and cinephiles launches The Frame IFF as a monthly celebration of independent cinema, focused on emerging voices worldwide.
Films arrive from over 30 countries in the first three months, ranging from Bollywood-influenced shorts to European experimental pieces.
Submissions grow past 50 countries. The December 2024 edition alone honors 9 award categories, including debut features and student films.
We launch our first $3,000 cash prize pool — three winners of $1,000 each — chosen by an independent panel of judges.
Our upcoming edition runs January 27–30, 2026 — with the largest submission window yet, and prizes for three new visionary filmmakers.
